Young people in England Searching for new directions

The Census carried out in 2011, in the United Kingdom shows 6.7 million young people between the ages of 16 and 24 live in England and Wales. According to the 2011 Census, of the total population in the UK, young people consist of 12 percent. Young people in England, however, have shown great interest in having an education. For example, in 1984, only 1.4 million young people engaged in education and this number has been doubled in 2013,  showing 3.0 million young people involved in full-time education. But according to a survey carried out in 2013/14, young people have also been the victims of crime, totaling 25 percent of the total of youth in the UK.

High Interest in Education

According to statistics recorded in 2015, the amount of young people in the UK who stayed away from education, training or employment, has reduced to a very low level, when compared to the statistics of  2001. In this regard, this figure is reduced annually. The data confirm that the youth in the UK  has a high interest in learning, after which, they find employment or join training programmers in various fields. Since the education system in the UK  has opened many avenues for youth to pursue higher education, a large number of them seek higher education in universities. Some of them learn while engaged in temporary employment.

Exploring Destructive drug addiction

However, a news report in the Guardian published on July 23, 2015, highlighted that the youth in the UK falls victims to various drugs such as LSD and Ecstasy. According to the report, the number of young people who take deadly drugs has increased to 84 percent. According to the Guardian report, in 2014,  over 157,000 young people between the age group of 16 and 24 have made it a habit of taking ecstasy. About 49,000 young people have used LSD in 2015, the report says.

Increased Smartphone usage

Most young people in the UK use smartphones but not laptops. They use it for roaming the internet  more often than communicating with family members. According to the 2015 survey, every youth who uses a smartphone spends over two hours roaming the internet. The study also shows British Youth are also interested in taking selfies with smartphones.

Use of Sophisticated electronic gadgetry

Young people in the UK have a keen interest in new gadgets like mobile phones, laptops, cameras, etc. and purchase no sooner the devices arrive on the market. A survey shows, more and more young people in England spend a quiet lifestyle with such devices.  They seem to be unsatisfied with what they have so far, and results in most of them suffering from anxiety and other mental issues. According to the latest research, the number of youth who seek the consultation of psychologists and institutions that provide advice for youngsters has increased over the years.

Keen interest in Fashion

According to Youth Fashion wear Report issued in 2015, British young people show a strong interest in fashion. Even at a young age as little as 13 years, they look for new trends in fashion, especially females. But the report says, they prefer spending on quality dresses and accessories to cheap items. Overall, the young population in the UK show a significant improvement in education. But they are vulnerable to getting addicted to various destructive drugs and activities.
