Part of the English Club TV group, a group of Education, production and distribution companies operating worldwide that specialises in teaching English as a second language for non-native speakers. ECTV has increased in popularity as the “go to” educational channel that specialises in teaching English to students of all levels and ethnicities.

The site features numerous programmes each carefully custom made and designed by an expert panel of native speakers, to meet the requirements of students of varying levels of English comprehension. The site’s unqualified success lies in its unique and innovative approach to teaching.   Students who visit the site for the first time are encouraged to take an online self-evaluation test that determines their current level of English comprehension. Once assessed, these students are categorised instantly into knowledge levels of Elementary, Pre-intermediate, Intermediate, Upper-Intermediate and Advanced levels. The results are based on the online test. After which the site offers a broad range of programmes designed based on these levels and aimed at improving the student’s English comprehension and progressing them along each of these levels.

The basic level of English knowledge on the site is the Elementary level, also known as A1 English. It covers the four primary modules of Listening Skills, Speaking Skills, Vocabulary Expansion and Grammar. Each level has its unique set of English video lessons uniquely formatted as “TV shows.” These are episodic in nature, centring on topics ranging from current affairs, sport, business and finance to day to day interactions students may encounter such as asking for assistance when travelling to an English speaking country.

Students interested in learning Listening Skills and Vocabulary expansion can do so by watching such programmes as “ECTV Simple News,” “The Week in Review,” and “Step by Step.” Each programme offers a series of post episode tasks and glossaries to make sure students have fully absorbed the content of each episode. Students looking to learn and correct issues in Speaking Skills, and Grammar can choose from a range of programmes including the famous “E-lab” series, “Say it Right” and “Perfect English.” Each of these programmes has been created specifically to teach pronunciation, phraseology, lexicology and vocabulary.

All the programmes on the site are always in news or documentary format, which makes them unique, enjoyable and understandable and therefore are the perfect learning tools for A1 English for non-native students.
